Privacy notice

This notice explains what LinkOS services record and why.

What we record

When you pull an image through LinkOS Mirrors, the servers log each request:

  • your IP address, as seen by our CDN;
  • the time;
  • the mirror address and the requested path, which contains the image name and its tag or digest;
  • the response status and size;
  • the user agent, which names your client and its version.

The mirrors do not use accounts or cookies.

Why

To run and debug the services, to measure how they are used, to find and stop misuse, and to handle complaints.

How long

The access logs of the mirror servers are rotated by size and kept for at most 30 days. Our CDN nodes also keep access logs for the same purposes.

Where

The servers and CDN nodes are outside mainland China, currently in the United States. Requests and logs are processed there.

Upstream registries

When an image is not cached yet, the mirror fetches it from the upstream registry itself. The upstream registry sees the mirror's address, not yours.

Sharing

We do not sell logs or share them with anyone, except when the law requires it.

The websites

  • linkos.org uses no analytics. When you switch language, it remembers your choice in a cookie named openlinkos-lang.
  • The page shown when you open a mirror address in a browser uses no cookies or analytics; it may remember your language in your browser's local storage.
  • The status page, uptime.linkos.org, is served by our own server through the same CDN. It uses no cookies or analytics; it may remember display preferences in your browser's local storage. The monitoring behind it only checks our own services.
